Chats

Overview

The Chats module is your interactive Q&A canvas for exploring datasets without writing code. It combines drag-and-drop visualizations with a conversational AI interface, letting you ask natural-language questions and receive insights, charts, or data summaries in real time.

1. Chat Dashboard

• Chats List: Displays all past and active chat sessions, with columns for Name, Data Source, Created At, and an Open button.
• New Chat: Click the " + " button to start a fresh session.
• Search & Filter: Quickly locate chats by name or data source.

2. Creating a New Chat

1. Name Your Session: Enter a descriptive title (e.g., Q1_Sales_Analysis).
2. Select Data Source: Choose from your uploaded CSV or .xlsx files.
3. Launch Workspace: Click Create to open the split-pane chat area.

3. Chat Workspace Layout

• Left Panel (“Drop Zone”): Drag in chart images (PNG, JPG) to anchor visual context. Resize and rearrange visuals on the fly.
• Right Panel (“Ask Dolly”): Type questions or commands (e.g., “Show revenue by region last month”). Dolly responds with text, charts, or tables inline.

4. Natural-Language Queries

• Free-Form Questions: Ask Dolly to filter, aggregate, or summarize data (e.g., “List top five products by units sold”).
• Follow-Up Queries: Continue the dialogue (e.g., “Only show results for the Northeast region”).
• Context Preservation: Dolly remembers past prompts within the session, enabling complex, multi-step analysis.

With Chats, you turn raw data into an AI-driven conversation—leveraging both visuals and language to uncover insights faster than ever.
